Lauryn Hill set for arena tour to mark 20 years since release of Miseducation album

There are a lot of 20th anniversaries to mark this year, but this one is probably going to take the cake.

While we’ve celebrated two decades of Steps, and are waiting to mark the same for the Spice Girls (if they’d just sort their damn minds out), with the likes of 5ive and Backstreet Boys getting in on the anniversary action, Lauryn Hill’s return might be the one we’re really waiting for.

The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill was arguably one of the best of the 90s, at the time breaking the record for first-week sales by a solo female artist and scoring Lauryn 10 Grammy awards, and now we’ll be able to hear it again live with our very own ears.

Lauryn is taking the record on an , taking in the sights of the UK on the way.

The tour will kick off in November and run through to December.

It’s her only studio album, which saw her score number ones with Ready Or Not and Killing Me Softly in 1996, with singles Doo Wop (That Thing) and Ex-Factor reaching number five.

After her success she dropped out of the public eye and spent three months in jail in 2013 for tax evasion.

Announcing the tour, the 42-year-old said: ‘This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date.

‘I Loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.’
